I have a Samsung microwave (Model# ME179KFETSR) that over the years the LED display has become to dimmed, hard to read. After researching the issue, I purchased a new LED panel (PN# DE96-00997A LED ASSY).
I replaced the display and powered the unit back up. Nice bright display, problem solved. Reset the time and turned the light on. (We always leave the light on as a night light)
Came back to the microwave sometime later and the clock needed to reset, and the light was off. Reset everything again and after a few minutes the same thing happened. This happened a few more times so I decided to put the old board back in and it worked as before, dim LED but no resets.
Decided to put the new board back in making sure to double check and make sure all the connections were tight, and it reset same as before.
Thought to myself, it must a faulty new board.
Purchased another DE96-00997A LED ASSY and changed it out. The exact same thing happens. The unit resets again.
I know it's possible that I could have received to bad ASSY's but I wonder if there isn't something else going on. I put the original board back in and it works fine, just a dim display.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Dave
