Hi everybody, I'm new here but after owning a Samsung Refrigerator for about 10 years I can feel the pain of each of you..... please forgive me for my bad English...
I love this fridge because is the only one can dispense sparkling water and as long there isn't any on the market with this feature I want to keep it, I'm a certified technician working on bigger industrial machinery so in not fixed everything replacing the first series parts with updated ice maker, ice evaporator fan, modified the evaporator for anti icing drain, etc.....
last month the stuff in the freezer started to melt, the display temperature was correct -23c but inside was -4c measured with a digital thermometer, I powered it off for 30 seconds, and on restart the temperature on display was the real -4c for the freezer and 4 for the fridge, after less than one half hour the temperature on the display started to decrease down to the settled -20c but the real temperature was still -4/-5c, so I replaced the ceiling caged temperature sensor with a new one, no difference, I checked the evaporator for build up but fan was spinning and evaporator was normal, I ordered a new main PCB version 7 and replaced my version 3 but still no luck, temperature sometimes is -15c sometimes -2c, I also replaced the display with an used one but no difference, the only part remain to change are the power inverter and the power supply board, any suggestions?
Grazie, Fabio.

"translated" in Fahrenheit for better understanding:

last month the stuff in the freezer started to melt, the display temperature was correct -9F but inside was 25F measured with a digital thermometer, I powered it off for 30 seconds, and on restart the temperature on display was the real -25f for the freezer and 40 for the fridge, after less than one half hour the temperature on the display started to decrease down to the settled -4F but the real temperature was still 25F so I replaced the ceiling caged temperature sensor with a new one, no difference, I checked the evaporator for build up but fan was spinning and evaporator was normal, I ordered a new main PCB version 7 and replaced my version 3 but still no luck, temperature sometimes is 5F sometimes 25F, I also replaced the display with an used one but no difference, the only part remain to change are the power inverter and the power supply board, any suggestions?

Hi Jake, I was able to get into the service menu by pressing freezer/lighting (center left upper right) the zero on the right can be changed to 1-19-20-32-33-34-35, the left from 0 to 15, any idea?

Sorry, no idea, I have not got into that menu on this model, and the service manual may not be the exact service manual for your model.

Try this other service manual Anthony posted here:

Thank for the link, I managed to lower the temperatures of the fridge and freezer but the actual temperatures showed on the display are still incorrect, what bother me and what is causing this is the fluctuation of the temperatures inside

Ok, then I don't know what else could be causing this.

Hopefully a Samsung Tech that works on these models "DAY IN and DAY OUT" can shed some light on it for us.

The strange behavior is when I unplug it and it restart, the actual temperature are displayed, so I presume the sensors are ok, after few minutes it reaches the selected temperatures but are very far from the real ones…. Another strange fact is the compressor never rests, coils in the back are clean, could be lower R134?

Again, I hate assuming and guessing, so lets just wait till a SAMSUNG FACTORY TECH comes here to shed some light on this.

Other than that, You can Contact Samsung at 1-800-SAMSUNG (726-7864) to have a authorized tech come out.

You have to be careful about the temp display on the panel. It can be "temp setting display" or "actual temp display". If on the panel "freezer temp", "fridge temp" are indicated, it displays actual temp. But if there is no indication on digital display as like "freezer temp", "fridge temp", it is usually setting temp only displayed. So, if it is setting temp display, there can be some discrepancy in temperature reading and panel display never changed itself.

Thanks JRyu for your reply, I know, when the display is blank and I press any buttons it will shows the supposed actual inside temperature, when I dress the freezer or fridge buttons it will shows the temperature I chose to have, the problem is even if I have a new logic board, new temperature and ice sensors it the “actual” value displayed is alway far from the true temp….. my question is which board controls the temperature?

I have no idea because I don't have the schematic of your machine. But it is main pcb to control the temperature. The panel display of your machine seems only setting temperature, not displaying actual temperature. I am sorry. This is my limit of knowledge.

My observation on Samsung French Door Refrigerators is, as others have said, when first plugged in the display above the dispenser reads close to actual (or at least elevated) fridge and freezer temps to show the trend down to the current setpoints. Once the setpoint(s) is reached, only the setpoints are displayed when a button is pushed. As a previous manufacturer of products, if the actual temps were continuously or displayed on demand, consumers would overwhelm the Samsung hotline...lol.... because during periods of defrost the fridge and freezer compartments rise 20F-40F for their 20-30 minute defrost cycle duration before resuming cooling back down to the setpoint. I didn't design these but I can recall being in engineering meetings making these types of decisions and would probably display only setpoints too.

Just an update, I changed again the main board, all 4 sensors ice and temperature and the two bimetallic sensors, but the live temperature is still wrong from the real one, so I installed a wifi switch, every night at 00:00 automatically goes off and after five minutes goes on again, like that I’m in an acceptable range of -17/-25°c (-23) and +3/+8°c (+4)…… the fun fact is my 3000$ TV sometimes freezes when I use the remote control, it will restart by hit self after 5/10 minutes or faster way is unplug the power cord but is on the wall mounts so is almost impossible to do, I installed the same wifi power switch so I can power cycle it with my iPhone, try to guess with brand is the TV???
