Good Afternoon,

This morning, our Samsung fridge decided to stop dispensing water from the water dispenser (again).
The dispenser has been working fine since we bought the fridge brand new from Home Depot in 2016. Then about 3-4 months ago, the water dispenser stopped working. If I remove the filter, the fridge dispenses water just fine. Insert the filter, no water comes out. The first time this happened, it was a couple of days before the water dispenser would work again with the filter in place (we did nothing, it just started working again). The fridge worked for a couple of months just fine until this morning when the water stream pressure slowly dropped until there was no more water coming out. I took the filter out and water flows just fine. Put the filter in, no water.

We have been using generic Home Depot water filters for the last 6 years with no issues until earlier this year.

I have searched the forums and have seen a couple of fixes but nothing specific to our Samsung Fridge.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ryan,

Order a OEM Samsung water filter and see if it works. Home Depot generic might of had a bad batch of them come out.

Sometimes quality control says it passes, but then does not when you install it.

OEM is always must better than generic anyways.

I always use the OEM water filter in my refrigerator and never had any issues whatsoever and my refrigerator is 8 years old.

I got the OEM water filter installed but no dice. Water came out very slowly for about 5 seconds then stopped. I kept the dispenser pressed for about 20 seconds as well but nothing came out. I did this a couple of times to see if "something" was stuck.

what would be my next option?

Ok, then the problem has to be the water filter case assembly.

Possibly yes.

Not likely, some people replace them once a year which is fine to do, if you live in a area with good water quality.

I take it putting the water filter case assembly back in the fridge is the opposite of taking it out? I only saw removal in the instructions.
