Hello, brand new to this forum, looking for some guidance. I have read online, watched videos, and searched this forum before coming here, as well as a few people I know irl who had the same issue ... kind of a last resort here.

Our Samsung wf337aag washer has worked fine for 10ish years. in October wife noticed that the spin cycle to drain the water etc was stopping randomly and taking hours to complete a load. I took apart the pump assembly, flushed it, checked for debris and damage. I snaked the drain hose, tested the pump into a bucket... ran the diagnostic functions and received no errors... she put a load on and same thing happened.

We resigned ourselves to a new washer. Neighbour said that the main board could have fired circuits and a little soldering might fix. Cool.

Today I took apart the front and removed the board. The rear of the front panel (attached) has what I think is scoring in the top left corner... is it? There's also lots of like yellow residue around the plastic. The main pcb assembly seems to be held in place by some sort of sealant or membrane (attached) so I can't access/see the back of the pcb ... can I remove this membrane? How?

Can i use rubbing alcohol and cotton to clean the plastic and boards? I feel like no to the actual boards.

Any other thoughts, or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

EDIT: I think I posted this in the wrong spot... and now I can't figure out how to move it ... sorry.

I moved your thread to the right forum for you.:)

As for your question I don't know those answers, because as techs we don't fix at board level, we replace the entire board. Hopefully another tech. or member that's seen and fixed this problem can shed some light on it for us.

What I do is check the resistance of the drain pump, should be 13-16 ohms. If that's fine and nothing is jammed/stuck in the drain pump, then check the voltage to the drain pump when it should be draining, should be 120 volts.

Here's the drain pump for your model:

Thanks Jake. I'm like 90% it's not the drain pump. I took it out, cleaned it, inspected for damage/blockages, put it back and used the diagnostic tests with the drain hose in a bucket to watch...water drains. I don't have a resistance meter, so it's entirely possible the ohm/volt are not being met.

I'm going to run an empty cycle on it and see what happens today.

Update:

Somehow lol... I got the washer to turn back on and start a cycle empty.

On the Rinse-Spin 35mins left it throws up an "nd" error. Drain issue. So... unless anyone has any other ideas, I'm going to take out the pump again fully disconnect the drain hose this time ... and inspect it, snake it etc.

What am I looking for with the pump? Blockages obviously but, anything else?

Further update.... yeah every time it needs to spin it stalls with an nd error took over two hours for an empty normal cycle to run. Wife thinks the drum is off balance as well. How do I check that?

The water hoses to the drain pump, make sure they are clear.

--->Other than that, you'd need a multimeter to check the voltages to the drain pump, because it can only be 2 parts causing this issue, the drain pump itself, or the control board. That's it!

The tub balance should be fine, unless the tub is banging the sides of the washer in full spin cycle.

Okay, it's been a while since i updated because I didnt have time to get to the washer. Just took apart the drain system now.

Drain hose from washer to pipe had some gunk in it, but nothing I would call a blockage. Hose from drum to pump is clear.

water came pouring out of the pump when I disconnected the drain hose, and water came out of the drum-to-pump hose when I disconnected it. Not sure if that's normal or not.

Drain assembly looks good. No damage I can tell. Not sure if the valve is working correctly, no damage to it. If i press it into its little home tap pressure isn't enough to push it forward, but I have no idea if it's supposed to just rest on the opening or be pushed into place.

Pump Motor - pictures attached. Smell is awful. Could be burnt out. Could be 10+ years of water use. I have no idea which.

There's some oxidization on the metal parts. Don't know how the spinning fan part is supposed to move, but when I move it clockwise or counterclockwise it kinda "snaps" into position. No sound. Just ... like a spring loaded snap into position. Again no sound or sounding/feeling like damage just... explaining as I'm not sure what you need to know.

So i guess I'm wondering, should I reassemble and test once more or just buy a new pump motor. Not the assembly, assembly is fine.

Thanks
Dan

After advising the boss (read wife) of the situation, I was instructed to purchase a new drain pump assembly.

Found one. Installed it. Rinse and spin went great. Wife put a Shak test load on. "nd" - drained it. Repositioned the drain hose, verified all connections, made sure the wire connection to the pump was secure and correct. Went into diagnostic. all water valves work, spin works, press soil level - nothing.

It's the damn board isn't it?

Does the new drain pump drain all the water out within 90 seconds? And the water flow out of the drain hose is very fast into your home drain pipe?

If so, then yes, new control board time.

The new pump assembly drained easily during the rinse and spin test. Test load no draining. Diagnostic mode, no draining.
