• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

I have a GE SCA1001HSS03 microwave that all of a sudden the fan and light stay on the entire time the door is closed. Everything else works perfectly. Tried replacing all 3 door switches and still the same. Ideas what else it could be? Thanks

Hi,

Door switches, door switch mechanisms, door key are the most common trouble makers.
If these check ok, the smart board is then suspect.

Lets hope it is not the smart board as that is coming back as No Longer Available :(

Could you please explain the “door key” and what about the switch mechanism to look for? Doesn’t sound like either of these are electronic. Thx

Door key is the part on the door that goes inside the unit to activate the door switches.
Door switch mechanisms are the pieces inside the door key pushes/pulls/contacts to activate the door switches.

Okay, that all checked out good. Any other switches or limits that could be bad causing this since the smart board is not available anymore? Thanks again.
