Sears Kenmore 417.93702201 Washer Belt Moves During Agitation, Not During Spin

The washer belt on my Sears Kenmore 417.93702201 moves during agitation, but not the during the fast spin when the washer drains the water from the tub. The water drains, but the tub does not spin. During one wash a lot of smoke came out of the machine. There are some random noises too.

I *think* this means that I should replace the washer drive belt (Part no. 134161100) that connects the drive motor to the drive system.

Does that sound right? Or do I need to look at anything else. Attached is a video showing the motor spinning and drive belt staying still.

Hi,

Slip the belt off. The large pulley in the middle turns in one direction for agitation and in the other or opposite direction for spin. If this pulley is locking up the tranny/gearbox is suspect.

If needed:

Drive belt.
Tranny/gearbox.
