The wires coming into the dryer give the following voltages:
1st and 3rd (the 2 big ones) = 240 volts.
1st and second or 2nd and third = 120 volts

Voltage at the drying element = 0.0.

There does not appear to be any wire breaks or obvious problems.

The drum rotates and the blower blows (albeit cold air).

HELP before my wife demands I call for service repair!!

Hi,

The voltage readings seem fine as you described.

But you will need to post the model number so we can help you more.

Thanks for the help. I found that the thermal fuse (the one that is high up on the heating element; it appears to be ceramic; its white) is blown. The ohm meter read bad continuity (the meter didn't move at all when I tested it with an ohm meter). When I connected the two wires directly bypassing the thermal fuse, the element heated up.

The writing on the ceramic white portion says T-O-D and below that 10/250. On the metal part, the brand appears to be FSP and the numbers state 3399848.

Does that make any sence to you?

Nathan

**The ohm meter read bad continuity (the meter didn't move at all when I tested it with an ohm meter**

That means bad/open.....good job!

Check/clean venting and vent hood at the same time!!
