My dishwasher door now falls to the bottom when it is opened. Previously, it would go down very gently and need gentle pressure to open to the horizontal position, so it never fell on its own. It also used to close on its own, but of course that doesn't happen anymore.

A few months ago, the kitchen cabinets, counter, and floor were replaced, and the dishwasher was moved and replaced by a contractor. I'm concerned that this damaged the door mechanism. The contractor also managed to lose the machine screws for the toe kick panel and I discovered that drywall screw(s) were used instead.

Are these related? I'm not sure what recourse or how to show the contractor could be responsible for the door behavior. The dishwasher is still washing dishes, but the door is a big annoyance at best and could damage the hinge as it falls unexpectedly.

Is there a way to fix this? I've seen some generic guides that indicate the entire unit would need to be removed, a major operation.

Also, where can I find a parts list for the dishwasher? Thank you so much!
