I know others have posted about this issue with other models....and I know the common response is to replace the UI board. But I started there (new module from appliance supplier), worked for about 2 weeks then the same behavior returned. So naturally I replaced the ACU board (new module from appliance supplier). No effect. So I'm really scratching my head now.
Background Info
Symptoms: Random control panel actions; initiates "button" inputs on its own; unresponsive to many user button inputs; randomly turns on; randomly turns off; won't turn on manually with power button; only turns on manually with knob turns; sing-songy control panel behavior
Fault codes: None
Maintenance done: Replaced UI and ACU, verified that no connectors are loose/improperly installed; checked door switch to make sure nothing appeared wrong; System reset is ineffective as well
Testing done: User interface test: All lights illuminated; two buttons were unresponsive => Delay Hours and Extra Rinse (note: two buttons that I never use so it shouldn't be wear related); one of the buttons beeps without responding (Extra Rinse if I recall correctly) and the other doesn't beep or respond.
Physical observations: Nothing visual appeared to be wrong with either board (no obvious damage or physical defects).
Skill level
I'm not a repair person, just a mechanical engineer with 30 years of experience. Not a sparky though. I feel for you repair folks. The connectors on these things are a PITA to remove and install. I get that they are locking type, but man are those difficult to access and unlock. Bloodied my finger trying to release that ACU module from the chassis too. You have push it right into a sharp sheet metal support while keeping your finger on a nearby snap feature. Jeez. Got more than I bargained for on this project.
Any ideas? Thanks.
