I'm having trouble getting the drive shaft out while trying to replace the gearcase on a Maytag Bravos XL model: MVWX600XW0. As a note, I had to chisel out the drum mounting hub so there's clearly some major major corrosion, so it's maybe not surprising that it's stuck.
I've applied plenty of Rust Buster and WD40. Tried hammering the shaft to loosen. I've also tried the car jack trick shown on a few Youtube videos (applying jack over shaft and lifting up on a 2X4 that spans the upper rim of the drum), for example, like this video:
Using the jack seems to only have been successful in jamming down the inner portion of the shaft and the outer shaft and attached gearcase is still not budging.
Any other tips or tricks? Or should I just give up?
FYI, trying to replace gearcase part W11132267 after leaking at the bottom and loud noise during spin cycles.
Note: washer came with house, not sure of exact age.
