FIXED Thermador T30IR800SP hinge needs a "banking pin"?

We have a Thermador T30IR800SP and we recently replaced the oven next to it. And now we have to be concerned about the huge handle the new oven has possibly impacting the fridge, literally. It gets within about 1/4" now which is a bit uncomfortable if someone were to throw the fridge door open. :)

So... in one of the manuals, Thermador says we need something called a "banking pin" to put in a hole to limit the door opening to 90 degrees. Great, I've even found the hole on the hinge (I think), but I don't have the pin and can't find a part called a "banking pin" anywhere. There is a regular hinge pin part, #605622, but I have no idea if it's what I need.

Anyone know about these?

It may have been included with the original installation material. Contact Thermador and ask for the part number of a replacement.

yeah, I'm sure the guy who installed it 8-9 years ago just took the pin with him "in the cleanup" because we don't have it. I've already contacted Thermador and I'm waiting on a response. Hopefully, they'll understand the part it is we're looking for. :)

But "banking" pin? ;) I get that it can be related to angles but seems a bit obscure. ;)

Yes, I don't know why that name. Maybe "banking" also means limiting? Or maybe it has something to do with the type of hinge used?

Let us know how you make out.

if I had to make a guess, this is Bosch, so likely some weird translation from German in relation to "banking angles" on the hinge.

While waiting to hear back, I plan to just order the only single pin ($2.50) I can find and see if that works. Otherwise, there's always fashioning a wood dowl to fit in the holes.

Good Afternoon Mr. Pete,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We here at Thermador are always more than happy to assist you with your appliance inquiries and we appreciate you allowing us to do so.

Yes, that is correct. That part is the 90 degree limiter for the hinges.

Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to respond to your inquiry as we hope this information helps.

"Limiter" makes sense to me, at least in English. :)

Did they give you the part number by chance in case anyone comes here looking for one also?

I mentioned it in the original post. But here it is again, along with some cross reference numbers:

Part Number 00605622 (AP3962311) replaces 1386280, 605622, AH3476837, EA3476837, PS3476837, PS8726458.

BTW. Thermador said in a later reply they have no idea where the term "banking pin" came from either. :D

Ah, thanks. You originally mentioned a "hinge pin". On domestic fridges the 'hinge pin' is the axis point the door pivots on.

that's how some of the parts stores refer to it unfortunately, which adds to the confusion. :/

Sub Zero simply calls it a "stop pin" and it's located in a bag attached to the baffle up top along with instructions. It's also threaded.

well, "stop pin" makes too much sense. I think the Bosch is smooth with a slight flange at top and needs to be tapped in with a rubber mallet according to a manual. I should have the pin a couple days and we'll see.
