• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Seems to be a lack of parts for this one. Anyone know any compatible models part that would work?
Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know there are no parts available for counter top microwaves.
Just turn table glass, drive block, fuse and glass tray wheels with nothing else :(

It's a built in with a trim kit as we are using it. I haven't checked the cable connections yet and are going to look at them. Hopefully just a bad connection.

Unfortunately it is still considered a counter top style microwave.

Use to pull the cable and lightly rub a pink eraser to clean up the ribbon connections....something that helped.

If you get a chance, let us know how you made out with it.

Will do. And actually only the 5 key isn't working so we're limping along and hoping it's a cable connection. I hope to have time to check it this weekend.

I could live without the 5 working ;)

Well, I don't have to live without the 5 as it started working! My guess(as an electronic tech) is that it is a marginal connection that will need to be dealt with at some point. These Jenn-Air appliances have been flakey and I've had problems with three out of the four.
Sounds like you are experienced so I would like to ask you a question about this microwave. It was sold to us as a built-in and is mounted that way with a trim kit. Is it really a counter top unit with no real replaceable parts in it? I didn't find any parts online and I won't bother looking for any if does have a part truly go out. I'll just look for another unit.
Thanks for the help
Terry

Yes. Add a vent and trim kit and voila....it is built in.

Yes :(
