old cold spot
Here are some pics of the old wiring of a 60's era cold spot fridge that I need to rewire. The white wire's insulation is totally screwed up. I want to use a solid state relay in place of the old relay that came with the fridge. It looks like someone added a capacitor. I don't know if it is needed with the new solid state relay. On the new solid state relay there are 2 black wires in addition to the white, red, and black wires that I think need to be wired to the compressor. Are those 2 wires suppose to be hooked the the power cord? Can somebody tell me if the compressor looks like a 1/8hp model? If somebody could clue me in I would be very appreciative .
Thanks,
Buck

This is already a solid state relay.

That one happens to also incorporate a capacitor in addition to a
relay and overload.

Was the compressor not running with it installed?? That might not
be a good sign.

What wire goes where on the compressor you'll have to figure out by
measuring the resistance between the compressor terminals to
determine which is which. Then using the wiring diagram on the relay
package to attach them to correct terminals.
