I have a EFME617STT0 electric clothes dryer and went in to replace the belt (you could still power the machine up and even turn on the drum motor by pressing all the normal buttons before I went in to do the repair)... but post-repair... the door light no longer would come on and you could not longer start a cycle (everything in the door light circuit tested good including the door switch and the wiring all the way back to the main board) and the start button would just blink and beep every time you tried to start a drying cycle. I put it into error reporting mode and got an E42 kicked back out (no other codes) which is a "door sensing" code. The door switch itself was tested and it works great, the wires examined and continuity tested all the way back to the board. I have the board pulled and photos attached. Am trying to figure out which items on this board I should be paying close attention to. Relays and capacitors? How do I find the "door-sensing circuit" on this board? Thank you in advance! One important side note -- I have found several posts by owners of this same machine that, for one reason or another, went in to do a repair, and when they put everything

Hi, If the dryer was working perfect before you replaced the belt, then I'd double check all the wire connections to make sure nothing came out of place when you put the dryer back together after replacing the belt. Unplug your dryer first before opening it back up to check your wire connections.

Here's the tech. data sheet for your model: https://ecommcdnprod.azureedge.net/...roduct_support/EFM/EFME617STT0/A05243801B.pdf

J4-7 and J4-5 are the two connections the door switch goes into your main control board. The is a resistor(Orange) between the two J4-7 and J4-5 door switch connections, but the schematics does not list the ohms it should be.

Here's the door switch for your model:

Here's the video to ohm test the door switch:

Thanks to JAKE for the reply and for taking the time to include the above information. It proved extremely helpful. After a great deal of testing, I was able to conclude that the main-board was not sending proper voltage down the door-open circuit to the door switch. For the benefit of anyone else that comes across this same error in the future... the fix ended up being replacing the main board (not the user control panel as some have suggested on other forums). It would appear that many experience this error after taking the dryer apart for whatever reason (in my case it was just replacing the belt) and upon reassembling everything they get this weird behavior and to main board magically fries on the door open circuit. Got lucky and found an used board on ebay for $35 shipped. Normally a lot more expensive than that, even used. Hope this helps someone in the future! My wife and family will praise me as HERO... for about a day... then just regular old dad after that. It sure is nice to have clean dry clothes again! Gotta love DIY and giving forum members.

Excellent, good job finding it was the Main board.(y)

Thanks for the update!

WOW, that is great, hopefully it will last a long time.

Here's the BRAND NEW Main board for your model:

Always make sure you disconnect power to the dryer first before replacing any parts on it. Usually its not common for a Main board to fry when just changing a belt when you have no power to the machine.

I've replaced hundreds of these same belts for my customers in the last 35 years and never saw a Main board fry after I was done.
