I have a 18 year old 48" Viking VGSC486-6Q Gas Oven with Grille. The six burners, the grill, the left oven and the right broiler all work perfectly. The problem is with the right oven. Please keep in mind that this problem occurs only intermittently.
When the oven is set at a specific temperature, the temperature is reached, and the indicator light goes out letting me know it has been reached. The problem is that the gas continues to flow to the oven and the oven continues to heat and heat.
To stop this when it occurs, i must shut off the gas to the oven. This obviously make the oven no usable. I have changes the thermostat, the knob control and the relay board all to no avail. Any ideas? Can someone confirm that it is the gas valve control before I go and change that? Thank you so much.

If the oven uses a glow ignitor ignition system, the ignitor needs to be ON (glowing) for the oven gas valve to let gas flow through it. If gas still flows to the burner even after the ignitor shuts OFF, yes the gas valve must be sticking open.

It actually uses a spark ignitor which is working fine. Can I still assume that the valve is sticking open?

I do not know the system used on that oven and service information is rare so I couldn't say, sorry. It may be a possibility.
