I have a four year old side by side Viking 5 Series Refrigerator/Freezer. No problems with the refrigerator side, maintains constant temp. On the freezer side, the temp wildly fluctuates. It is set at 5 degrees, but will slowly warm to 18 or 19 degrees, and the alarm will go off. The alarm is turned off, and the temp returns downward to 5 degrees again. This has been going on for a week or perhaps longer. It just goes up and goes down. I am clueless as to what is going on or the possible causes. Thoughts?

Check the freezer thermistor resistance. At 5°F it should measure 218K ohms. At 32°F (small glass of ice and water) it should measure 97K ohms. At 77°F (room temp) it should measure 30K ohms. If the thermistor checks good the control board is most likely the problem.
