First time on a forum like this so sorry if something doesn’t show up correctly or I leave out information

Jenn-Air wall oven-microwave combo. Model JMW8530CAB, made about 2003

Symptoms/Facts:
Bake element doesn’t heat at all
Broiler Element works fine
Digital Display of temperature appears to match a thermometer we hung to rack
No Fault code on digital display

Trouble-shooting I’ve done:
Turned off power. Disconnected bake element. Measure voltage at connectors, shows 120V between one connector and ground. Set oven to bake, no change in voltage (still 120V), think this should have gone to 240V.

Tried to check temp probe, but connector would not pull out from behind back. Since the displays showed the correct temp didn’t think this was likely? Wanted more info before I pulled the unit out to get to the back.

From checking on-line sounds like a Relay Board or an Oven Control Board. Any help you can give me trouble-shooting would be appreciated.

Going into Christmas without an oven is not going to make me popular.

Thanks in advance for your time,
Gknr

You have to put one meter lead on one side of the element terminal, the other meter lead on the other side of the element terminal then check it for 240 volts when set to bake.

Not to ground.:)

If you don't get 240 volts then next ohm test your high-limit thermostat for continuity. Make sure the breaker is off before accessing it and ohm testing it, also remove at least one wire from it first before ohm testing it.

Its #4 here: Parts for Jenn-Air JMW8530CAB: Internal Controls Parts

Here it is for your model in case you need to order it:

I'm posting a photo of it below too.

Thanks for the help Jake.

I had checked both element terminals against each other and both to ground just in-case. No 240V.

As suggested I removed power and checked the high-limit thermostat for continuity. 1.1 ohm, so appears good. The photo was a nice sanity check I was looking at the correct part.

What should I check next?

I appreciate the help,

Ok,

The high-limit thermostat is good, NOW measure the voltage between the L1 wire and the L2 (red wire) on the relay board. If your meter indicates 220-240 VAC, set the oven to bake and measure the voltage between the L1 wire and the BAKE terminal on the relay board. If the voltage is not 220-240 VAC, replace the relay board.

Here's the relay board for your model you can order:

Jake,

Checked the voltage between L1 & L2, solid 240V. So turned on Bake, nothing between L1 and BAKE on the relay board. Have the part on order from your link. Will let you know how it goes in a couple days.

Thanks again for you help,
Gknr

Ok Gknr, then that relay board is the problem, you'll be back in business when you get the new relay board.:)

Yes, keep us posted.

Jake,

Got the Relay Board and installed it yesterday. Works Great!!!!! She's already made me a batch of my favorite cookies. First time using one of these on-line forums. Will definitely do it again, thanks again for your help!
