Hello group, I've asked for some help in the past and you were able to help me out so hoping for more good luck! My girl has a condo in Los Angeles she doesn't live there full time as she is a professor at an ivy league school. I'm one of those pesky guys who tries to fix things vs. throwing them out the unit is a GE front load washer WBVH6240 In the past few years we've tried to solve a basic problem of wet clothes (towels and bed covers mostly) being wet after a cycle, I've replaced the belt, springs, shocks, and checked the drain lines for socks and drywall screws (oops) on a basic load with 5 pairs of jeans and shirts the result was fine some banging on lower spin but not too bad on the fastest.

Switch to a sleeping bag and a towel and watch the entire 1 hour plus cycle what I noticed is the unit will not spin up to anything above 100 or so rpm from what I read and watched online it seems the unit is trying to balance itself to allow it to speed up but due to the weight it is not or the weight itself is too much.
I can spin the drum empty and it sounds fine no grinding or catching, I tried a test to see if it is the spider which is my assumption but I am not sure if there is a more accepted test than rocking the drum or semi spinning it side to side..

Or does someone have an idea of something I should test or check Thank you in advance for any help, tips, tricks, or ideas!!!
WBVH6240 approximately 2005 ish

Hi,

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below. Enter SERVICE MODE then go to "t02" and see what error code/codes you get.

SERVICE MODE
--->To Enter: Press Signal–Delay–Signal–Delay (within 30 seconds of plugging in washer).
To Exit: Repeat Signal–Delay–Signal–Delay

Hello Jake and group,

I spent the last 35 min running every test about 12 in total and my machine drained well, plus it ran a spin cycle from 0-1000 rpm and it did not have much vibration maybe 1/8"-1/4" at 700-1000 rpm. On the error code section this was a replaced board so I erased the codes and ran the tests I was sort of hoping it would show something but I must assume the codes only occur after a load.

Now I am a little confused with my next troubleshooting area, with my problem being heavy loads not spinning above 100 what would that indicate to you?
Thanks again for any help, tips, or other ideas you might have.

That's very interesting, I'm not sure why you are not getting any error codes then.

This is a mystery to me as well.

You'll probably need to have GE go out to investigate, because I hate to see you start replacing parts if you get no error code.

Hello Jake, ran a heavy load again to see what would happen and to see if an error code would pop up. Here's what happened, I ran a speed wash cycle with the spin on high, 38 min...at 15 min. the unit stopped and was on pause, I lowered the speed to medium and ran again came back to check and it stopped again at 3 min..

I decided to put the unit into the test mode with a heavy sleeping bag (wet) inside to see if the speed tests would work.
1. “t14” Spin Test Verifies Washer Spin Speeds 0-1000 rpm and it went up to 1000 rpm fully loaded with the wet sleeping bag.
2. "t11" Spin Test goes to 400 and 1000 rpm interestingly this would go to 850-890 rpm not 1000 rpm.
3. I checked the error codes and it showed a water fill code e22 Ensure manual water valves are fully open. Check if water strainers on solenoid valve assembly are clogged.Check for obstructions inside inlet water hoses. Ensure solenoid vlaves do not leak when the valves are de-energized and the washer is powered down. Measure coil resistance for both valves; if outside range (1000–1250 ohms at room temp.), replace solenoid valve IF ABOVE STEPS DO NOT CLEAR THE PROBLEM, OR FOR ERROR CODE 23: • Replace solenoid valve assembly.
4. I ran the fill tests and the unit fills and drains normal both hot and cold.

Little confused here, I was anticipating the spider or bearings but it does go to 1000 rpm any ideas?

Jake you won't believe it, after all the tests, I found out how to check the control board and darn I had it on the wrong model and flipped it to #3 and it worked..... So the last 2 years I had the control board on the wrong # and doing that fixed my problem!

You helped me immensely by giving me the manual! Thanks very much sir!
