Over the years we have been bad about clearing the filter on our front loader and only do it when it gets clogged. The washer is about 6-7 years old. This time I cleared the filter and it simply just doesn't drain (other than out the filter hole onto the floor) out the back hose. I took both the rubber tube that is below the drum as well as the drain hose that comes out the back of the washer off the washer and cleaned them out thoroughly to make sure there is no blockage. Some debris cleared but probably not enough to cause no draining at all. We tried another cycle and still no draining. My thought is that the drain pump is shot but I'm wondering what your opinion is. Would be great if a quick fix would solve my problem.

Oh one more thing, there were bits of what seems like rock (they were obviously from the washer since they contained some fibers in them) but they were grey and extremely hard like rock. Seems almost like it was an accumulation of grey matter from the washer that solidified rock hard. First I have noticed this debris in the filter.

Do you hear it trying to drain, like a hum sound at the drain pump?

If not, then I always check for 120 volts at the drain pump when it should be draining.

You'd need a multimeter to see if your getting 120 volts to the drain pump electrical connector when it should be draining.

Here's the drain pump for your model:
There is a video in the part link to show you how to access/replace it.

Let us know what you find.

I ended up buying a new drain pump and installing it. The amount of mold in back of the laundry detergent receptacle as well as the smell of the water coming out of all the tubes I was unhooking to get at the pump was unreal. While I was at it, I decided to unhook a couple extra hoses to clean them out and the slimy grimy stinky nature of what I experienced was not pleasant. When the washer was still running and we needed to clean the filter catch, I did notice the same things there but never thought it would be this extensive.

This was our first ever front load machine. Now that I am researching online, I see that many people complain about front loaders and the issues with mold and mildew. Overall I decided I don't want to be washing my clothes in this machine anymore regardless of the outcome so I bought a top loader. I thank you very much for reaching out and giving me advise on this fix however.
