Does anyone know what the purpose of the "Rod" part 496822 is on a front loading Bosch Washer. Someone broke it when attempting troubleshooting and I can't figure out what it's purpose is or if it should be replaced. It hangs off of the door latch mechanism with no real purpose . Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that model but it might be a way to manually unlatch the door should the lock mechanism or control system fail. You'll likely appreciate such a thing in the future if you're planning on keeping the washer. I don't know how you'd open it otherwise.

Thanks Dan. That makes sense and also explains why no one mentioned it in the repair videos, since it literally just hangs there.
