My dishwasher is not working and has a draining issue F9E1. There is no blockage in the disposal and upon removing the drain pump I noticed that those spiky prong like blades had been broken into two. I ordered a new drain pump but it didn’t come with it. Is the part i’m referring to called the chopper blade (the spiky blade like thing)? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. w11412291 is the part number for the drain pump.

Model Number: Not sure

Please post the dishwasher's model number so we can look it up. You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link.

This is an old thread but I happened to see it.

W11412291 doesn't (isn't supposed to) include the chopper. The version with the chopper is W11497943. But as Dan said, without the model number there's no way to be certain what you need.

Hi all,

Kinda looks like a soft food chopper before drain out....that is new to me.

Apparently it is an exclusive feature used on Maytag version Microfiltration dishwasher models. The chopper doesn't look to be available separably.

JFYI

Could someone with access to Whirlpool check to see if there’s a Service Pointer regarding that specific drain pump chopper? I had a longtime, highly regarded local appliance store owner tell me they extended the warranty on that pump to 10 years because of so many failures of the chopper blade.

I don't know anything about that. I just seen a short 30 sec. marketing video touting the superiority of the Maytag pump design.

Maybe the dealer was referring to this?

If we had a model number we might be able to look up its warranty. You can read one dishwasher model's warranty:

SECOND THROUGH TENTH YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

■ Upper and Lower Racks (excludes cup shelves and silverware basket)
■ Chopper Blade
■ Stainless Steel Tub and Inner Door Liner
