Whirlpool dishwasher WDF310PAAB1 will not start. I checked the door switch continuity and it is good. The lights on the panel all work. The drain was dirty due to hard water, and I cleaned it off. I can't find any Thermal Fuse on this model, but since the lights come on, I guess fuse is ok (if there is one somewhere). I took the control board cover off and all connections looked clean, no burning, no bad wiring.

Hitting Start button causes a couple of lights to come on for about 15 seconds, then all lights go out, with no noise anywhere. I have tried getting faucet water hot before hitting start. Our hot water heater seems to be taking longer to heat the water. Any guess as to what part(s) are failing? W10375804 control board? I see my title says dryer, but it is dishwasher. I can't find how to edit the Title.

Error 5-1 is a door latch problem or control board problem.

Faulty or sloppy door latch assembly (which can be aggravated by high door closure force, keeping strike plate from fully seating).

It may be cracked or broken. I'd check that first. Make sure you disconnect power to your dishwasher before accessing it.

Here's the door latch for your model:

This video shows you how to access it:

Also check the door strike:

If all the door latch parts are good, then it is a bad control board. The thermal fuse is integrated into the control board on this model.

Here's the control board for your model you can order:

Thanks. We've always had problems with the door. IT was a foreclosure house and the bank put it a new dishwasher. It was a quick and dirty install. Didn't even bother to level it. I adjusted the level. Have previously bent the door strike many times with no luck. Then I looked at a pic of a new one, and tried bending the two side arms away from the middle section. This seemed to provide the right tension and it started working, and also closing easily.

Well, it has only been two days, so we have only used it once. But I think it is good now. I ordered a new strike on Ebay just in case though.
