Hi,

I purchased a new ice maker GI7FVCXWY03 from appliancepartspros.com last July to replace a 10-year old ice maker that crapped out.

Here's my original thread on these forums for back history:

The new ice maker ran great for about 6 months. Now it seems to be overfilling. The 6 cubes get completely stuck together in the tray so that they can't eject into the ice cube bin. This locks up the ice maker and causes it to stop producing ice.

Yesterday I took the ice maker out, thawed the ice jam so that the cube tray was empty and reinstalled. It ran fine again for about 24 hours, but has since frozen up again.

The pics below show the fused ice cubes that I just cleared a minute ago after the 24 hour period of it working properly.

I've also noticed some crazy frozen together ice cube clumps in the storage bin sometimes. They're not lined up in a row like they just came out of the tray that way. They're all over the place in a big formation of several cubes stuck together. Almost like they're coming out of the tray not completely frozen and then sticking to each other and freezing together in the bin. Or maybe additional water is leaking down into the storage bin and freezing the cubes together. I'll get a picture of this if it happens again after reinstalling tonight.

Is there a fill level adjustment (if this seems to be the issue)? Any other ideas?

Thanks for the help!

Eric

That's very odd Eric, don't think I've run into that before in my 35 years plus of doing appliance repair.

If you turn the ice maker OFF, does water still flow into the ice maker tray?

AppliancePartsPros and RepairClinic Always has a 365 day warranty on ALL parts.

So you're still under warranty for your ice maker.

I don't think so on this model.

Thanks Jake!

It's been running great again for 3 days after I thawed out the last tray jam.

No more stoppages and no more excess water running down into the storage bin causing the cubes to stick together in strange clumps.

I'll keep an eye on it and let you know. If it happens again, I'll thaw and dry the tray really well. Then reinstall and turn the ice maker off and see if any water is still getting into the tray at all.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the help! The level of customer service given here is unlike anything else I've experienced, period.
