• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

About 2 months ago my display (within touch panel section on an all glass door) would occasionally wink off and then back on, usually but not always associated with running the microwave. A few weeks ago it would randomly go into "Test mode" per the display. I could exit out of that and continue. A few days ago I started getting some other touch panel error but through all of this my lights and fan worked - they are separate mechanical buttons. Yesterday I got some other error that I was able to clear but could not get the touch panel 'buttons' to work. The clock continued to display fine. This morning I unplugged for awhile, and it resumed working though blinking. My last attempt to use it gave the F9.Q error and no amount of unplugging / plugging back in clears the error and the fan and light buttons no longer work.

I've read a few threads of similar threads on this site though none seem to give a definitive course of action nor a certain remedy. Any suggestions on where to start beyond try replacing board X first? Or lacking a better idea, which board first?
Thanks for any consideration
P.S. The microwave/convection oven was manufactured in February 2010. Not sure of the date on the original unit which Whirlpool DXed after it melted itself. Mechanically this model is a piece of crap but it is a thing of beauty and I love the touch screen controls. Also it has a good fan, very good lighting, and is an inch deeper than other large models.
