I was having problems with my Whirlpool Refrigerator Model WRV986FDEM01 where it wasnt making ice, interior lights quit working, the door open was lit and all doors were shut, the top selection panel on the middle left cheese door quit working and the front ice/water dispenser quit giving ice/water.
After searching online I came across this similar post:

This thread helped me troubleshoot and solved my problem.
I will try to add my repair pictures of the steps taken.
Cut the shielding to expose broken wires. Strip the end of each broken wire. Slide two heat shrink tubings on each wire. Twisted them together, soldered them, and once cool, slide the heat shrink back over the repair then apply heat.
Afterwards I stuffed them back into the original jacketing and put two wraps of electrical tape around it to stiffen it up.
We will have to see how the electrical tape holds up after a few months in the cold environment.
