My washer (Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2) does not spin. It will agitate and sounds like it is spinning, but is not. The washer does drain, but leaves the clothes soaked. For awhile it would continue to spin once I manually got the spin going, but just the ther day it stopped all together. I can't even get it to spin manually. The washer is about 9 1/2 years old, but if there is a relatively cheap fix, I'd like to go that route. Thanks.

Its likely your internal clutch parts and basket drive that are wearing and causing your issue, but the parts are expensive even if you do it yourself, so you may want to consider investing the repair money into a new washer.

I've changed about 50-100 of these in the last 20 years myself for customers.

Here is the basket drive for your model you can order here:
Manufacturer part number 285792 is RepairClinic item number 1254
285792

Here is your clutch assembly you can order here:
Manufacturer part number 285785 is RepairClinic item number 2670
285785

Here's a help video for replacing the clutch:

Then to remove the basket drive:
Grasp plastic cam on basket drive and turn while pulling downwards
