Working on friends washer. Replaced suspension rods with quality . no change. Discovered loose wash plate bolt. Tightened. Slight improvement. Basket moves around so freely inside tub I thought that was normal. I suppose when wash plate comes off the problem will be revealed. Any pointers would be helpful. Thanks

Here's the parts diagram for your model:
#7 is the screws that hold the hub and spin basket in place
#8 is the hub itself
#9 is the retainer clip

Make sure the #7 screws are not broken, Make sure the hub #8 is not broken, as well as the retainer clip #9 is not broken.

If your having trouble removing the washplate--->Watch this video below, he uses 2 pull hook tools to get it off:

--->Look at these photos below of the hub teeth grinded down to smooth. It should NOT be grinded down to smooth. If yours is grinded down to smooth, order the new hub.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks. Neighbors daughter is about to have baby, like right now. Fixing her up with a temp washer while I bring hers home and fix it. Will be much easier with baby and all. Will respond.

Bought a broken washer for $40. Kenmore biggie exactly like the other washer. Sears repair guy quoted them $700 fix. $100 for the service call.
Complaint was no agitate. Got the agitate fixed. Now the spin is just like the video. Got the washer plate off. Used 2 giant zip ties. Found the worn down hub. Will order and replace. I am just going to give her this machine and bring hers home to fix and sell.
So when unit is in spin cycle, wash plate should not spin freely from basket as it does with worn hub. The splatch ties them together. Thanks again. Chuck
