Trying to figure out what i need to replace on my in-laws washer...

When I turn on the washer, the lid lock clicks on and off and I get an F5,E3 code on my machine. That says the lid switch is not working properly. I cleaned off the contacts with alcohol and it ran 3 washes with no problem, so I thought it was ok. A few days later, I put in another wash and it locked the lid and started the cycle but stopped before the water turned on. I unplugged the machine to reset the machine cycle and then I got the same code as above. And now it seems I can’t reset the cycle at all.
"reset" meaning the codes will not clear, even after unplugging for a long period (2 days) . Is this a bad lock switch? Is there something i can try?

Yes, you are correct, your lid lock switch is the problem, you will need to replace it to fix it permanently.

Here's the lid switch assembly for your model you can order:
W10861642 Latch

Let us know how it goes.

That did it! Thanks again! One tricky part, the actual lock is held in by 2 T15 screws.... so you need that star shaped screwdriver which was a little bit of a pain.
