• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hi,

I need a little help with a Whirlpool microwave. Initially, when we opened the door, the light was blinking but the microwave was still working. I did some research and I found the issue could have been one of the door switches. So, I ordered a new set but while I was waiting for the shipment coming the microwave stopped working completely.

I finally got the switches and replaced them all, however, and here is the problem, the microwave is still not working (it`s dead like if there is no power). Is anyone here who might know what happened? Could it be the fuse? or the wrong set of switches perhaps? (all the cables are correctly where they are supposed to be).

Thanks in advance or your help!

Andrew

Could it be the fuse?
Yes:

I have a similar problem - had door open/close error off and on so replaced the switches but then the fuse blew. All videos i’ve watched on replacing the fuse say to discharge voltage from the capacitor first. I don’t see where to do that on my microwave - see pics below

Rick has been out sick since Jan.12th with a serious illness, we are hoping and praying for a speedy recovery!

I know nothing about microwaves or I would help you.

Hopefully another tech or member can assist you.
