I have a Whirlpool Model WRF767SDHZ00 French Door Refrigerator given to me. Since my Kenmore died, a friend had this one and I'm hoping something simple is going on with it. The lower freezer, cold, ice built up on evaporator coil. Fridge section not above 59-60. The evaporator fan was not on. The top LED lights barely flicker, freezer light is out, but side lights work in fridge section.

I read that there is a relay on the control board for defrost timer and a relay for lights. I have also read that the freezer light can go out and cause the top lights in the top of fridge section not to work. The lights I am not worried about at moment. I would like to know is the freezer being cold and fridge not cold, could that be the damper not allowing airflow to the top of fridge?

Also, according to diagram, there is a motor at top of fridge where icemaker is located. That fan at top is not running either but thought that reason could be temperature control in fridge not working causing this possibly. It seems this system a has no leaks as my Kenmore developed a leak at evaporator coil and cause a stink in the house. I am hoping this Whirlpool is a simple fix and be my replacement for my Kenmore.

The evaporator fan was not on.
Did you have the freezer door switch pushed in while the freezer door was open?

I'm attaching the tech. data sheet below.

Do--->Service Test - 3: Evaporator Fan and Air Baffle Motors
--->Turn on the FC(Freezer Compartment) evaporator fan and the air baffle motor.
--->Monitor the air baffle feedback. SW3 (01 = fan on. Air baffle open, 02 = fan on. Air baffle closed).

Here's the FC(Freezer Compartment) fan motor for your model:

You can test it with a multimeter set on DC volts for 12.7 DC volts when the freezer door is closed, or tape the freezer door switch closed.

Here's how to access the FC(Freezer Compartment) evaporator fan motor:

The FC fan is not running, the damper does actuate correctly. I never could see a way to test the fan that is in the top refrigerator compartment for the icemaker that is up there. Is there a way to test that fan as well? Does the freezer compartment LED light not turning on the cause of the top refrigerator LEDs to be barely lit up?

When refrigerator is in diagnostic mode, can I probe where the FC evaporator fan plugs in to see if there is voltage reaching the fan? Where would I put the leads for checking the voltage? I see there is a red, blue and white wire that goes to fan. The fan is 12v DC from what it shows on the fan. Which wires should I touch with the leads from multimeter, red to red and then black to the blue or white?

Also, my background on repairing things. I have replaced my air conditioning on my GMC Envoy, also vehicle repairs, repaired my own washer and dryer, replaced wiring in my home, soldering relays on circuit boards. I did work in an air conditioning assembly plant and brazed copper coils there. I have a good understanding of how things work or fixes.

Its in the tech data sheet, look towards the bottom in the chart.:)

Also look in the wiring diagram, and you will see the evaporator fan motor wire colors that connect to that motor.

I had to find the tech sheet, under the right hinge cover. I did ohm the wires first, they do check good. I get 12.7 volts at board checking blue and white/black wire. Checking plug in freezer compartment, 12.7 at blue and white wire for fan motor. The evap fan doesn't run, so I am assuming that is the issue. This refrigerator, one that looks exactly like it at Lowes Home Improvement is $2799. It would be nice if fan does fix the issue.

I will have to figure out the LED light issue. Like I said FC LED light is out, the ones at top of fridge compartment have a dim light at center. How hard is it to remove the freezer light? I am almost wonder if freezer wasn't shut good or maybe since there is just one fan doing double duty for freezer and refrigerator it just burned out.

You are correct, the freezer evaporator fan motor assembly is bad.

Open the freezer door and see if the freezer light LED comes on, if not, then that is the bad part for all the rest of the lights on the ceiling in the refrigerator not coming on as well, as they run in series with the freezer LED.

Here's the freezer light LED for your model:

Watch this video below, he shows you how to replace it:

Well so far, the refrigerator is working. One thing I do notice it seems there isn't much resistance when opening the door on the right side of refrigerator compartment. Is it possible to adjust that? I wonder if it isn't sealing as well as it should.

Do you see any gaps in that door gasket? Is it sealing all the way around the cabinet when the door is closed?

Usually you'd see condensation if warm air was leaking into the refrigerator from either door.

I don't see any adjustment for it, except the bottom door closer device: Closer, Rh W11212164

That part is inexpensive, maybe get one for the heck of it. I did look at gasket first, see no gaps in it. There is no condensation inside. I was putting shelves back inside refrigerator compartment, items had some condensation from that, but not major. Compressor is cycling on and off as what I think is normal. Hopefully it lasts for the time I need it.

Can the age of refrigerator be determined by model or serial number? The Serial Number is K92421819. The current model at Lowes Home Improvement, looks exactly like it out and inside, dual ice makers, the only difference is not using R134a. Newer model has newer freon I can't recall what it was, but didn't say R134a.

Yes. your refrigerator was made in June of 2019 per the serial number.

The model number tag says what refrigerant it uses.
