The last few times we've used our 3-year-old oven on bake, the temperature goes well past the set temp and the food will burn if not watched. It seems the broil element is coming on more than it should (and perhaps is on full time) while on bake. I haven't checked the temp but it must be above 500 deg, even when set to 350 deg.

This results in the display reading "Fault detected, press Start". After pressing Cancel to turn the oven off, it seems like the elements are still producing heat for 10-15 mins. The only way to prevent this is to turn off the breaker.

Could this be a relay issue, or would the whole control board need to be replaced? If I knew it was a relay, and which one, I would attempt to replace it to save a few hundred $.

Thanks!

Measure the resistance of the oven sensor. It should measure about 1100Ω at room temp.

Thanks Rick. I just did that, and it read 1079 ohms, which I believe is normal? Anything else I should check while I have it apart?
