I put a load in the washer and walked away. I heard a squeeking coming from the basement. The washer had filled completely but when it came time for it to agitate, it only squeeked. No movement. When it is time to spin, the water drains, but no spinning occurs.

Ive never had any trouble with it. Used it yesterday.

Any suggestions before Ill have to call the repair fella?

Thank you!!!!

Hi,

By the model# this is a direct drive style.

**The washer had filled completely but when it came time for it to agitate, it only squeeked. No movement. When it is time to spin, the water drains, but no spinning occurs.**

The motor coupler may be broken.

The link above has take apart and coupler info :)

Well you are right. One of the PLASTIC couplings instead of being octagonish was completely worn down to a sphere. It wasnt grabbing at all.. Why would they not machine a coupling out of heavy metal or aluminum on a HEAVY DUTY WASHING MACHINE. It was made from the cheapest plastic. Obviously they would know in a few years it would need replacing. Today I will pick the necessary pieces up and let you know if I was actually able to install them myself!!

Thank you very much. !!!!!

Better to break a cheap piece of plastic than burn out a $$$+ motor or break some part of the suspension system when the machine is overloaded or runs into an unbalance problem??

Of course, what you would prefer to pay for repairs is up to you. ;)

BTW. "Heavy Duty" has been used as a marketing name for years, I don't know that it has any real qualifications behind it. Have you ever seen a clothes washer (besides a small portable model) that wasn't marked "Heavy Duty"?

That label seems to do its job ...from a marketing standpoint anyway. Consumers actually think it has some meaning. :(
