I have a 20 x 20 room with 11 foot ceilings. I need a window unit for it as the one currently in use is woefully underpowered for the purpose (8000 btu).

I am looking at the following and was wondering if it would be a good choice-

Any advice would be most appreciated. I would like to go 14000 btu but that would mean a through the wall unit and I have no wish to do that. I also don't want a portable unit.

Many thanks.

12000 BTUs will cool a 450-550 square foot room. You have 400 square feet plus high ceilings so I wouldn't go any less than 12000 BTUs.

What about draining, how do you properly drain these units if there isnt a drain plug? Tilting them back doesnt help dispose of the water buildup in the pan.

They all have a drain under the condensor. Any water that doesn't drain evaporates from the condensor heat.

Sorry about the hot link Rick--my mistake.

For those that may be interested though I am looking at the Koldfront WAC12003WCO 12000 BTU.

Thanks for the assistance Rick. That more or less confirms what I was thinking. I plan to get underway with and hopefully finish this project this weekend. I will post updates later on as to how it worked out.
