WMC50522AS Whirlpool microwave dies then comes alive

I have a Whirlpool microwave model WMC50522AS. The unit is dead with no clock or interior light. Then 8-12 hours later, the clock lights up with zeros. I can then set the clock, enter cook time and cook one cycle like normal. The unit then dies again and the cycle repeats. Would appreciate any advice on what the problem might be. Thank you.

How often does it go dead? Is the outlet on some kind of timer? If not the problem has to be the control or power board. Check if there's still supply voltage at the display/control board when it stops working. The control board probably cost as much as a new machine.

The outlet is good and not on a timer, so it's time to start shopping for a new one. Thanks for your reply!
