• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Hi,
Have this whirlpool over the range microwave that starts and stops after 2 seconds.

First I got it it had F1E4 error and would run as soon as you plugged it in. Or at least the fan would start.

I took the controls apart and check the door switches and all appear good and pass continuity check with multimeter.

I put it back together and this time no error and nothing running when plugged in. Great!!

I start it with a cup of water and cuts off after 2 seconds with no error codes.

I don’t see the tech sheet anywhere. Ut maybe I’m not looking In the right spot.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Corrected model number

The tech sheet is hidden in the top in a small black plastic envelope. I attached a photo of a clear envelope so you could see it. Can you post a picture of the entire model number label?

With door open, two switches should have continuity and one should not. Can you verify your findings?

Thanks for the tip on tech sheet. I will check later.

I took the door switches out and tested them. I can check with them installed also and let you know my findings.

Just don’t get them confused. When you can post the complete model label. I’m not finding the model you entered. I may have the tech sheet.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a service manual for that model. If you disconnected the control board, try reversing the plug as shown in the image attached. This cpu can tell if it is reversed. I would also double check all three switches. It is likely the switches or that connector. Here is a new part number for the switches. w11244494.

Then it was correct before. I’d sure double check the switches and their wiring. Any other components are difficult to get to without uninstalling and disassembling. Take pictures before removing wires from the switches. Did you find the tech sheet?

Also I did test all of the relay including that one we switched the wires on out of circuit and all work.

Didn’t see the tech sheet. So guessing someone else may have messed with it before.
Microwave is already down and on a table for trouble shooting

Per your model number tag, your model number should be--->WMH53521HZ3

I'll change it in your first post.:)

Wx4usa: forgot to mention this microwave had 4 switches In the door. All open and close (beep) when I open and shut the door

Sounds like it has the upgraded switch kit. Without a tech sheet, and not being there to test it, I am a bit limited on recommendations. Did you unhook any switches?

I did Unhook them to test originally. I took pics and video of where everything went. So it’s back together correctly. Unless someone before me swapped something. But without tech sheet I wouldn’t know.

I found the tech sheet. See attached photos.

Also I put the microwave in demo mode and ran it with no problem. I’m guessing it’s something on the high voltage side.

Magnetron, transformer or capacitor maybe

Magnetron, transformer or capacitor maybe

First step would be to connect a small set of alligator leads to the points in yellow in the image attached. Connect them to your meter set on volts ac. Load a cup of water. Set for 30 seconds and hit start and watch your meter. You should see 120volts. Be careful not to touch internal components while running. Also unplug the microwave and discharge the capacitor when done. We need to verify the board is sending 120 to the transformer primary. You could connect to the relay I pointed out earlier but the relay wire must be connected too. May be easier to reach since it’s on the board
