• ** REMEMBER! **The microwave can still shock you even unplugged!!

ALWAYS discharge the high-voltage capacitor first if you even think your hands will come close to any HIGH VOLTAGE components.

Jeff mentions this: Anything in the high voltage ( magnetron, capacitor, diode, wires to and from ):
...Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it.

Whirlpool Microwave/Oven Combo unit: WOC95EC0AS00
Purchased new, installed in Dec 2012.

I have one of these microwave/oven combo units and found a Tech Sheet on the side of the oven, BTW. Found an old thread here: https://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/threads/f1e5-fault-code-need-part-number.39955/

I am experiencing some issues with the microwave (even after a power cycle to clear the fault):

1. The glass turntable stops rotating after about a quarter turn, and then the microwave stops with an F1E5 error. Needs a power cycle to clear.

2. The right door switch is very hard to push in (unlike the left door switch) - not much of a click. I think I need to replace the switch and/or the holder and/or the rod connected to it.

My comments and asks:

1. The tech sheet does not describe the F1E5 error at all! When looking at the "Mv Faults" in the Diagnostics, this gives a display of "1-Inverter Fe" without much else. Is this pointing to the same Inverter failure mentioned in the older thread as the source of the problem?

2. The unit is heavy and I am concerned about pulling it out from the cabinet without help - did a partial pull and it started tipping forward, of course! Is there any way to access/replace the right door switch from the front of the unit without pulling the entire thing out of the cabinet?

I suspect I will have no choice but to pull it out to replace the inverter but was hoping to at least get the switch replaced first ...

Thanks in advance!!

This is a tip from Rick:

Is there any way to access/replace the right door switch from the front of the unit without pulling the entire thing out of the cabinet?

Sorry, I don't know that.

The tech sheet does not describe the F1E5 error at all!

I have not investigated such a failure myself but this previous forum message suggests the magnetron tube might be responsible.

When you get it out, you could visually inspect it for any odd signs, especially around the antenna and for cracked gray magnets. (Try not to touch the antenna itself with your fingers.)
