I have a Whirlpool Gold Series French Door refrigerator. I'm replacing the ice maker and the old one has two wire harnesses, one with a half dozen wires and a black connector and the other is two white wires with a white connector. My OEM replacement ice maker only has one harness containing all of the wires (including the two white wires). Can I splice the two wire connector into the white wires so I can plug it into the old connector, or is it a wrong ice maker?

Added model number

Hi Patrick, we would need the model number of your refrigerator first to assist you.

Then you will see a link that says: How to find a model number.

Thanks!

What is the part number of the ice maker you got?

The original ice maker part number was W10746960 but that has been upgraded to W11579560

I don't know the answer to that question, usually when you order the correct OEM ice maker and there is a wiring change, it will have instructions that come with the new ice maker.

Thank you for all your help on this. I ordered and installed the correct ice maker. After installation it passed test #56 for motor orientation and it filled with water. Unfortunately, after 24 hours it has not ejected the ice into the bin. Any thoughts?

What is the Realtime temperature that your freezer thermometer says it it?

If you don't have freezer thermometer you can get the RED Liquid or digital freezer thermometer. Walmart, Target sells them usually at about 10 dollars and they last a lifetime. The temperature needs to be 10 degrees F or lower at all times for the ice maker to work properly.

Thank you. The temp was a little high. I lowered it and the ice maker started working. Thanks again. Very helpful.

Sounds good, thanks for the update.(y)
