WRS571CIHZ00 Whirlpool Refrigerator ice maker not working

The ice maker in my WRS571CIHZ00 side-by-side refrigerator stopped working. As recommended by other threads on this site, I took off the base grille and found at least 3 wires broken (yellow, white, and black) at the bottom of the freezer door. I reconnected them using butt connectors but the ice maker is still not working.

Side note: I've seen it recommended on this page to use heat-shrink butt connectors instead of the vinyl ones I used. The vinyl ones seem to be connecting fine but I'll plan to swap them out for heat-shrink ones the next time I have the base grille off.

After reconnecting the 3 wires, I ran diagnostic 44. I initially get a code of 12 ("1" = harvesting is on and "2" = ice bucket is not full) but it changes to 23 after a few seconds ("2" = harvesting off and "3" = switch faulty or motor). I don't hear any noises coming from the ice maker while the diagnostic is running.

I've seen a couple of posts refer to testing the voltage between wires to isolate the problem. I've also seen that code 23 could be due to broken wires. Is there additional information on which wires to check and which voltages I should be seeing? I didn't see any other wires obviously broken so trying to figure out if my repair was bad or if there's other problem wires.

Any other advice on additional troubleshooting I should do?

I would start there, sounds like you don't have a good connection when you repaired those broken wires.

Thanks - I can do that. If there's any voltages that I can check, I'd still appreciate that info. It's very possible that I don't have a good connection when I repaired the 3 wires but I do wonder if there's others which are broken that I just couldn't see.

Also look page 6 of that troubleshooting guide where it says troubleshooting paths.

Path 1 - If there is ice or water in the ice tray, proceed to Path 1.
Path 2 - If the ice tray is empty, or ice cubes are extremely small proceed to Path 2.
Path 3 – If Path 1 and 2 reveal no issues, proceed to Path 3.
