Hello. I've got a Whirlpool WRS588FIHZ00 and the ice seems to melt and reform into a giant mass in the dispenser...jams everting up to the point that the dispenser seizes. Water will also dribble down and fill the catch tray. Is is possible that the tray is dumping the ice before it's completely frozen? The freezer is at -1 degrees right now, so I know it's cold enough. What part should I test in diagnostic mode... the temp sensor under the tray? I'm about to put this thing out in the backyard for target practice. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is the ice maker tray overfilling? Sounds like possibly the ice maker itself has gone bad.

Here's another member with this similar problem, and the new ice maker fixed it:

The thermistor senses the temperature of the ice tray to determine if the water is frozen.
(Below 8°F (-13°C) for Normal Ice, 5°F (-15°C) for Max Ice.

Here's your ice maker tech data sheet that has troubleshooting in it: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cM55ONghMG_V99Hdd-ysfueTDjV9Uvsq

Here's the ice maker for your model, if needed:

For others following your thread, this video shows you how to replace it:

I'm attaching your tech. data sheet below.
