Good morning! We have a Whirlpool WRX986SIHZ02 and had it a few months under 2 years. I recently noticed our ice maker would randomly stop making ice. I looked at the ice bin and noticed a hole in the side of it where ice must have gotten wedged and the pressure eventually caused a crack and ice busted through. That led to ice building up under the ice bin and freezing up. I got the ice out from under the bin so I could finally pull the ice bin out. I let it melt and dry out completely. I then put the bin back in and it started making ice again but froze and ice maker stopped. For some reason I thought the ice getting under and freezing up stopped the ice maker from working. I ordered a new ice bin but ice maker isn't working at all. Below are the results of the tests I ran:

Service Test 36 - Ice Box Fan = Returned 1
Service Test 37 - Ice Box Thermistor = Returned 01
Service Test 56 - Ref. Compartment Ice Maker Error Codes = Returned E2 indicating the motor lost position
Service Test 58 - Ice Maker Heater Activation and Thermistor = Returned 00 indicating ice maker heater is off and temp is warmer than harvest temp but not sure this means?
Service Test 59 - Ice Maker Motor = Returned 10 indicating motor was rotating and in progress. After 70 seconds it returned 02 indicating motor off and harvesting not complete (timeout I guess)

Any thoughts on other tests I should run or thoughts on what the problem is? Just from the tests I ran, assuming the motor died. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

Check for obstructions in the ice maker rake arm keeping it from dumping ice properly and causing the motor to lose position.

This video shows you how to access it:

That's due to the E2 error code.

Ok, sounds good.

The icemaker had to be replaced but that was it and now finally have some ice. Still appreciate the assistance Jake!

Excellent hansokl glad to hear the new ice maker fixed it.(y)

Thanks for the update!

HeyI have the same fridge with the same problem that doesn't make ice. I watch some YouTube videos the shows E5 code. anyhow purchases a replacement icemake due to the original part# W11457039 was shown discontinued. So I purchases a W10764668 hope it would work although found out a couple of the wire harness were different after I took the ice maker compartment apart. So that's no go. Question is where you got yours and what replacement part# it was. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hopefully @hansokl can let you know where he got it, currently most part sites have it on backorder.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I had so much trouble looking for the right parts. Although the 4 pins black plug for the W11658802 is on the side vs the original one is on the back side of the off the box. Not sure if the wire would reach... 🤔
