Here we go...

Ice maker quit working.
First problem, water valve.
Replaced it and got ice for 3 cycles, then nothing.
Discovered water line to ice maker was frozen.
Second problem fixed by replacing water line heater.
Now I have ice...
Third problem. When reinstalling the ice maker, I noticed, the cabinet liner was dark brown and visably melted in the same pattern as the heater.

Whirlpool asked a bunch of questions that seem to be geared toward protecting them selves from liability.

Should I be concerned?

Probably not, when the ice maker goes through a harvest cycle without water in the ice mold, the heater gets quite a bit hotter without the ice cubes to cool it down. Check it again after a while and make sure it doesn't get worse.

Thanks.
That makes sense, considering it was trying to make ice for over a month with no water going to it.
Never thought of turning the ice maker off...
