My Whirlpool WTW5000DW0 washer makes a squeaking noise at the start of a wash cycle. It is not very loud but it is distinct. After a few minutes it goes away. It doesn’t happen every wash cycle and it doesn’t EVER happen on other cycles (spin, rinse, etc). Any ideas what could be the cause of this transient noise?

If you can make a video of that noise with your phone and upload it here or upload the video to Youtube and post the Youtube link here. Or share your video per Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive and post the share link here, that would help us to see where that noise is coming from.

Jake, great idea to post an audio file. Attached is an example of the sound. You have to listen closely for the squeak.

There was a lot of dust from the belt underneath the washer. The belt is not in bad shape but I will replace it. Is there anything else I should replace at the same time as the belt?

Jake, replacing the belt fixed the squeak. The old belt didn’t appear to be in terrible shape but the day before I replaced it the old belt it started coming apart. Thanks for your help.
