I am experiencing a noise while my washing machine is agitating. I have already replaced the wash plate, the splutch cam assy, the drive belt, the actuator switch and finally the transmission. Maybe one of the new parts are faulty but I can’t figure out where this sound would be coming from. Right now I am leaning towards getting a different replacement transmission.

I did not replace the motor because the spin function works fine and has no issues.

Any help is much appreciated!

See if you can tilt the machine back and look underneath where your drive pulley and splutch is at and see what's causing it.

Make sure you put a block underneath the machine to support it when looking to keep it from falling down on you.

I am not able to tilt my machine like that to view the issue.

I just tried replacing the motor but I am still getting the sound.

Then you have a very odd issue I can't help you with just on the forum here, I would need to come to your house and see what's going on.

>ITS BEST You contact Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538 and have a tech come out, the tech can call the factory on a special FACTORY HOTLINE tech number from your house, and the factory can get involved in investigating

Is there any chance that the control board could be causing this issue with the voltage supple to the motor? Have you ever heard this sound before?

Also, the noise doesn’t immediately start when the rinse/wash cycles start. The cycles run for a bit but then the sound starts and gets worse. The sound is also impacted by the weight in the drum. When I run a empty load but on a cycle that fills the drum up 2/3 with water, the noise is much louder than an empty cycle with drum filled 1/4.

I really don't know without coming out to your house.

Hi there. I was able to tilt my machine up as you suggested and I ran a cycle that just yesterday created the loud screeching noise. When the machine was tilted with its front side up and the heavy duty cycle was ran, I did not hear the noise.
I am thinking it’s related to an issue with the front suspensions. I am going to replace those and will let you know afterwards.

Good afternoon, just wondering if the suspension was the cause of the noise?
I have a less than 1 year old Maytag with the same exact noise, have replaced the actuator, and gear pulley. Both have not fixed it. The appliance repair person, has put the washer in repair mode and in agitate mode no noise, but as soon as there is weight, noise is back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same noise and I have replaced the splutch, pulley and belt.
