Hi all,

My brand new washing machine has been making this screeching noise when the agitator is going counter clockwise. A tech has been out and said there was no oil leaking underneath and because it is not necessarily with every load, no signs of failure yet. It happens on every type of cycle, every time the agitator goes counter clockwise.

Hi,

He/she didn't hear the noise?
Can you send your recording to them?

WTW5105HW

Missing a digit.

Did he/she check for any foreign objects underneath?

I showed the recording, he said it sounded like the beginning of something failing (I forget the name) but since it wasn’t leaking oil it may be in the beginning stages. He said it was a very expensive fix, like costing more than the washer itself but since it’s not leaking oil then it may not be the actual issue.

They turned the washer on its back legs and looked under but didn’t take the washer tub out.

That is the link of the washer. On my receipt it was WTW5105HW but on website it was WTW5100HW

You only and always want to look on the Model/serial tag on the appliance itself.

Does it matter?....isn't it under warranty?!?

It is under warranty but he said whirlpool won’t fix it is leaking oil ans happens every single time. When he came and ran it empty it didn’t make a sound

That doesn't "sound" correct to me....boy I hope that is not correct, way to go Whirlpool :(

I never get that....how often do you run a load of nothing!?!....always ask for some towels or some dirty laundry and at least simulate a normal load!?!

JMO!
