WTW5300SQ0 Whirlpool washer will not agitate

our washing machine will not agitate even after I replaced the "dogs" . it moves a little bit and spins fine. Could it be the transmission?

Need help before wife buys new one.

Hi,

Did you check your motor coupler first? If that's worn out or broken, that can cause it too, and its a less expensive part to replace.

Here's the motor coupler for your model:
Motor Coupling 285753A

If the motor coupler is fine, then yes it sounds like the transmission is the problem. Take the agitator off so you can see the splines on the shaft and start the washer. See if you can hold the transmission shaft with your hand around the splines.
