WTW5840BW0 Whirlpool Cabrio washer collects water in Oxi dispenser

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer collects water in the Oxi dispenser and it gets moldy if we don't clean it out. We've never added Oxi or fabric softener and do not select the Fabric Softener option so it shouldn't be running water through those dispensers. Oddly, water never collects in the fabric softener dispenser.

I am going to start using Oxi in the dispenser (and selecting the Oxi option using the Fabric Softener button) for some stanky fleece performance clothes so thought now I should investigate this to make sure I'm using things correctly and it is working correctly.

Why would water remain in the Oxi dispenser like this?

I may have entered the wrong model number? I entered what the manual says but that might be the manual part #? My receipt from Lowes says WTW5840BW0.

That's a good question, but I don't know, never run into that issue as of yet.

Hopefully another tech. or member that's seen and fixed this problem can shed some light on it for us.
