Whirlpool Cabrio Washer First, F54 Now F50, F51 and F72. Bearings replaced last month.
In May I got tired of my Whirlpool Cabrio throwing constant UL errors during the spin cycle so I sent away for a new bearing kit and repair tool. I repaired the unit successfully on June 1 and it ran well for as many loads of laundry as we cleaned in 27 days (after waiting for the adhesive to cure, of course). Then, we got a F54 (Motor Control Overcurrent) error. I removed the tub/drum to find no socks blocking it from spinning but I can say that the rotor is scraping against the stator. I took off the rotor and stator and cleaned the rotor. After replacing it, the washer ran through a spin cycle, did a load of laundry and then gave F50 (Motor Stalled) errors. The drum/tub no longer spins under power but works by hand and the manual diagnostic spin test will light the indicators lights. I'm brave enough to change the shaft and bearings but I'm not handy enough to own a Ohm meter to perform Test #3.
I'm thinking that I may have broken something in the bearing kit replacement but would entertain that the RPM sensor may be incorrectly re-mounted or now wonky. I searched the forum and someone complained about rotor/stator friction in the past but there was no fix to that problem beyond RPS replacement. I'm reluctant to start replacing things at random. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
