Hi,
I just purchased a new Whirlpool Top Load Washer. The store guy said I should remove the bracket below the direct drive motor before fist use. He said this is a "Transit Bracket" designed to protect the motor in delivery. I called service hotline, but the service technician at the other end said I don't need to remove it anymore. The user manual doesn't say it either.
So what really is the purpose of the this bracket? Can I remove it or not? Do other brands of top loaders leave it on by default? I have attached a sample picture of the bracket (this picture is a similar bracket, I don't have access to my washer right now).
Thanks. I hope someone who has owned or repaired a top load direct drive can shed a light on this.
