Freezer had stopped freezing and was running around 45 degrees. Took all food out and took evaporator shield off to find the upper left corner was a complete block of ice. There was no ice on the evaporator. Let sit for a day and dried inside. Plugged it back in and the ice is already reforming after only 15 minutes. Just trying to figure out if this is worth repairing or if I need to get a new freezer. I have some skills with repair, but am by no means a DIY with electrical or cooling systems. Any help would be appreciated. Picture of current icing at 15 minutes attached.

That frost pattern is a sign of a refrigeration system problem. That might be lack of refrigerant or a problem with the compressor.

When not covered by a warranty either service being required is often not worth having repaired unless it is a special size or built-in, etc. and would be difficult to replace.

Happy shopping.
