FIXED Zeolite Container seal leaking water on Bosch Dishwasher SHP878ZD5N

OMG the ring worked perfectly, but now I have a new fault - getting E:07 error. It seems from reports online this is related to dryer fan, but it happens in the middle of the cycle. I wonder if I messed something up in the Crystal Dry system....
Hello. Did you ever get this fixed? And I Running into the same issue.

There seems to be so little info on these dishwashers, as you can see earlier in the thread we have an expert who wasn't able to look up the model number. I haven't been able to find a lot of information on E:07, they either didn't sell well or they don't break much. Best I found was some info in some YouTube videos spoken in German and a German blog post, hint, search for "Siemens zeolite" or something along those lines.

There are a couple posts on Reddit also, hopefully I'm not violating any rules but I'm posting because info on this problem seems so sparse, usually when I've had things break I just google and there's a million other people experiencing the same thing. Not so here. Reddit threads:
To summarize, I have the same thing happening (E:07 stops wash cycle 20-30 minutes in), the best I've been able to determine is that it's something to do with the CrystalDry system, and I'll be taking things apart to diagnose in the next few days. I suspect drying fan, thermal fuse or heating element on zeolite container, or some kind of obstruction in the ductwork based on various things I've found. I will keep the forum posted.

To be clear, these "SHP/SHX/SHV" models exist, here's the manual https://media3.bosch-home.com/Documents/9001411179_B.pdf. They're what I'd call an 800 series with CrystalDry (
). Difference between SHP, SHX and SHV are handle/front fascia type. I personally have a SHP878ZD6N which is a black pocket handle "deluxe" version of the 800.

We have an SHP88 model that we bought in Texas and brought to Mexico. Ufortuately, Bosch is no longer sold in Mexico. The dishwasher is showing a e:07 error code. Bosch said it was the zeolite fan. Technicians here are not familiar with this problem, but Bosch does not sell service manuals to anyone but technicians, so we can't provide the technician with a manual. Can anyone help?

Marked "fixed," but Not. We ordered a new zeolite fan, but it's is difficult to access it, so a tech is coming Monday. I hope it will then really be FIXED.

Its marked FIXED for the other people that posted earlier it's FIXED for their machines.:)

Let us know how yours goes on Monday.

Jake

We've had a recurrent E15 leak during the wash cycle, and I tracked the leak down to where the zeolite container goes up into the tub, on the inside back right corner of the tub. There's a black plastic ring under the zeolite container cover that looks cracked, and it's loose - it seems like it's some kind of sealing ring that should be able to screw down to lock into place.

The cover itself though (with the "hot do not touch" symbol on it) seems rigidly connected and I can't seem to easily remove it to access the black plastic ring to examine/replace it.

The picture on the inside of the dishwasher shows the piece that appears broken (black ring under metal zeolite container cover) and the picture on the outside shows where the leak comes out that triggers the E15 warning.

Any thoughts o wise community?

Thanks!

Hi! I am just figuring this out to be my E15 Watertap error codes. Looks to be leaking from same spot as yours here. Is there a video on how to replace the seal and nut? Can it be done going through inside of the dishwasher or does need to be done from underneath on top of the container? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone with the zeolite container seal nut and/or O-ring leaking issue repaired this themselves? I'm looking for a how to on this issue. I've looked for any video and can't find a single thing on replacing these parts. It also appears to come with the "tool" when you purchase the container, ring and nut kit but this tool can't be purchased on it's own. Is this tool necessary to have when replacing the ring and nut? Repair guy said it was a $600 fix if they do it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update to my post. Got the part mentioned above, installed and no more leaks. Just crazy that such an expensive machine had a cheap part that seems to easily break. Hopefully this will last for years to come.
Hi! I’m having the same issue with my Bosch. I can’t seem to find how to replace the ring and nut anywhere on line. How to did go about fixing it? Did you access everything from inside the back of the dishwasher or do I need to remove underneath where the Container is located? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is the exact same issue that happened to me (slow leak in my Bosch 800-series dishwasher coming from the Zeolite container where it connects to the tub). All of the water collected that triggered E15 seems like it collected over many months of running the dishwasher since I cleaned up the water, ran a rinse cycle, and noticed a very very slow leak from the seal. Realizing this sooner would have saved me the effort of disassembling the front panel since I could have identified the leak from the sides, but hey, at least I got a lesson in how to disassemble part of my dishwasher. I pulled out the Zeolite Cap straight off inside the dishwasher with some wiggling and unscrewed the ring; it was indeed cracked.

Ordered my replacement; hopefully it'll arrive soon and I can fix it in a few weeks! Thanks for the tip on the replacement metal part--the previous one (10024356) shows as out of stock.

For other people curious, the nut labeled as 0512 on this parts page was the item that cracked for me, and hopefully the replacement metal one will work seamlessly.

This indeed is exactly what is happening! I just received the ring/metal nut today I am having trouble understanding whether the rubber O-ring sits between the metal nut and the dishwasher or does it sit between the metal nut in the metal cap. When I initially took mine apart I never saw a rubber O-ring. I just placed the O-ring between the dishwasher bottom and the nut. I tried to screw the nut on and when it felt tight stopped there. I’m about to run it to see if that’s the fix. Otherwise I’m not sure the O-ring needs to be there. Any thoughts?

The Sealing O-ring is only relevant if your dishwasher model parts page on Bosch's website shows an O-ring (not all do; some dishwashers show a Stud instead of a Sealing). Regardless, the O-ring goes underneath the dishwasher tub, not above, as someone else above has mentioned. I didn't have an O-ring either when I disassembled mine inside the tub. I'm pretty sure the Nut just applies pressure downwards so the dishwasher tub is sealed against the O-ring underneath it, rather than applying the seal on top.

For others here, it seems like my OEM part for the Nut was 10024356, but that's listed as out of stock (my model is SHXM78Z55N/01). Other models with the same model number but different variant use 10014987. Based on the other responses in this thread I purchased 00636865, hopefully it's compatible!

I am posting this as I have not been able to find how to fix the cracked nut in the zeolite system for anyone who needs to repair.

Part 10024356 is showing as out of stock with no ETA. Has anyone found it?

@hansenq - did 00636865 end up working? That one I can get.

No idea how a dishwasher 2 years old has a ring that cracks like this.

@StaceyP - thanks for the excellent video!

All, to confirm - part 00636865 did work on my SHP88PZ55N. It is metal, which I like because the last plastic one cracked. Also, it is in stock (unlike 10024356 which is back ordered, at least in Canada, with no ETA - only the much more expensive complete unit with a ring is available). $20 and no more leak.

For anymore washing dishes by hand and reading this thread:
  • you have a Bosch 800 series dishwasher that you spent a fortune on in the last few years
  • it raises a E15 water trap code and stops working
  • looking underneath it (from the side), water is visible
  • if you soak up some of the water and run the unit, you can see water leaking out of the back right side and into the bottom of the unit (see @StaceyP's video -
  • pulling off the top right 'Zeolite' hood and unscrewing the black plastic ring reveals it is cracked
  • Order 00636865 for a metal replacement, or 10024356 for the OEM replacement (if you can get one)
p.s. Bosch, I know you read these forums closely to track defects in your units. This is a defect - the plastic rings are failing. Your complete lack of stock might be an indication...

So I had alternating issues with E15 and E07. Water leaking from the zeolite seal due to the cracked ring and then my heat air fan full of water…

Simple just order new parts I say! I have now replaced, the entire zeolite system (metal box, fan and rubber duct) including installing a new metal ring. It works! For one cycle… then boom fan full or water and leaking, ghaaa!!

I thought the new fan was just leaking or not working and pushing everything through, so I got Bosch to send a second replacement unit but I got to thinking… hey!
A fan shouldn’t have bloody water in it!

So I tried to run the first fan not installed just on the floor, and it worked perfectly, hooked everything internally with the brand new second everything seemed fine but by the end of one test cycle, boom! Backed up with water again! I’m pulling my hair out, I can’t for the life of me figure out how so much water is getting into the fan/zeolite system! I have all new seals and the metal exhaust cover is in place internally. All the water is inside the zeolite system, my e07 is being triggered by the air fan not being able to pump water (which as far as I can tell it is t supposed to!.

Has any one else had a similar issue?

EDIT: I also thought it might just be insane build up of condensation, but the water is soapy! So definitely not condensation

Hi, same issue here. Am I understanding correctly? If I need to replace the O-ring, I need to remove the whole dishwasher bottom?

Hi Andreas,

No you don’t need to replace the O-ring, just the nut.
In my experience, the only Reason you need to pull out the dishwasher is to clear the water from underneath the Styrofoam disk. The water leaking into the bottom gets trapped under the disk causing it to float up which turns off the dishwasher giving you the error message. If that water is still there, you will continue to get the message despite the problem being fixed. You only need to pull the dishwater out to access the disk from side to dry the area under the disk.
You only need to remove the bottom front panel to access the feet of the dishwasher. They are likely tightened to the floor. You could try just loosening the screws to pull the dishwasher out and may not need to loosen the feet.
You could try running it after replacing the nut to see if the error continues. With luck it would have dried out on its own and you wouldn’t t need to remove the dishwasher at all.
Hope that helps!

Did this metal nut work for you? Because mine is identical machine except the panel.

Update: glued plastic ring nut didn't really hold. It would loosen up every cycle.

Replacement metal ring nut came today and immediately gave a strong hold. Hopeful that this fixes the problem. Shameful of Bosch to make us beta testers on their premium products.

I have a different model however based on your post and the pics I gambled and ordered the metal one. Currently on my sixth test wash and all good. Previously it took about 20-30 min to error out. I was able to secure a plastic replacement a month or so ago however it cracked after 4 loads. I would recommend getting the wrench used to put it on or an adjustable rubber oil filter wrench to ensure it is tightened well.

**NOTE - all the pats sites as well as the Bosch site state the part will not work - again based on your pic of the plastic one i figured I'd try.

Thank you to all on this thread for ending my months long - and expensive - frustrating quest. Now, on the the fridge that keep blowing out water vavles

Same issue on a three year old Bosch 800 series dishwasher. I got an E15 code the day before Christmas (we were hosting). Looked underneath and there was water causing the styrofoam float to trigger the safety switch. Disconnected the safety switch, dried up the water and ran the dishwasher. The water was coming from Zeolite container perforation into the tub. Pulled the metal shroud up and found a cracked ring (per messages above). I looked online for Bosch part and it was backordered everywhere. I called Bosch and sat on the phone with them for one hour and forty minutes. What a waste of time. The best they could do was put me on the backorder list for the $3 plastic part. The rep told me that the list was very long and that it seemed to start back in June of 2022. So, I ordered the metal ring mentioned above instead. $30 with shipping and it was here in a couple days. It works like a charm. Thank you to all that responded to this forum. I do appreciate you!
I tried epoxy on the original ring but it would cracked as soon as I started to tighten it.
I called my appliance dealer and he said that Bosch has done well during the pandemic due to their strategy. Their strategy has been to focus on the entry level and high end lines. The mid range appliances like the 800 series I have are not available and evidently neither are their parts.
Don't waste your time with Bosch on this matter. Just order the metal ring and replace the plastic one. It takes seconds once the part is in hand. The people on the phone are just reading a screen and can't think outside of the box. Bosch is not employing the energy to have repairs scripted to help their clients.

If you feel that you have benefited from this site, and would like to show your appreciation.
